A Picture-Perfect Night: The Final First Friday on Fourth Street in 2024

A vibrant crowd enjoying the opening moments at October’s First Friday.

This past weekend, Steubenville came together for the much-anticipated First Friday on Fourth Street, a celebration of Oktoberfest. Held in Steubenville, Ohio on historic 4th street, the event brought together thousands of attendees for an unforgettable evening of live music, dancing, great food, a car smash, and community. Here’s a look at the highlights, from the amazing crowd to the standout moments, all captured in photos.

From the moment people arrived, the excitement was palpable. The evening kicked off with a short speech by Marc Barnes, creator of The Harmonium Project (New Polity, The Bad Catholic, Steubenville Grocery Box) and featured an impressive lineup of live music, folk dancers, vendors, a live cider press, a biergarten, and community events. This year’s First Fridays were bigger and better than ever, drawing people from across Steubenville and beyond!

One of the standout activities was The Strong Towns: Steubenville’s Car Smash Fundraiser, which had everyone taking turns having a go at a minivan donated by Rocky’s Auto Wrecking. First Friday also featured ReCraft Steubenville, giving everyone a community craft to take part in.

One of the most special parts of First Friday this October 2024 was the way it brought the community together. Families, friends, and even newcomers connected over dressing up in costume, making it clear that Steubenville is all about community.

Smiles all around as families and friends enjoy the evening.

The day wouldn’t have been complete without an amazing performance by Matt Hill & Friends, The Sycamore Folk Dancers, Emma Fradd, David Kruse, The Trainjumpers, Mirabelle Skipworth, Jordan Kelch, & Four Roses, Actually. Their talents helped make the event even more memorable.

What if we only spoke lovingly about the town we lived in? What if we changed the tone of the town just by featuring the good and the beautiful? That’s the goal. That’s the hope. That’s the prayer.
